Deputy Chaplin: the owner of the apiary, whose bees have bitten neighbors-dacha residents, can be sued

Chairman of the Union of Summer Residents of the Moscow Region, State Duma deputy Nikita Chaplin (United Russia) said that the owner of a summer apiary, whose bees had bitten their neighbors, could be sued.

The parliamentarian noted that “you can safely rely on Article 304 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.” According to the law, the court may oblige the neighbor to eliminate the consequences of the violation of the plaintiff’s rights, in other words, to remove the apiary if the bees have injured. Chaplin indicated that there is good jurisprudence on these issues.

Russian laws do not prohibit breeding bees in the country for their own needs, however, there is a restriction on breeding their aggressive species.

There are rules that are important to follow in order not to “get a fine or a conflict with neighbors,” the MP added. So, the apiary must be registered in the district veterinary station and a sanitary passport must be obtained, the hives must be located at a distance of at least three meters from neighboring plots and at a distance of 100 meters from institutions and central roads, etc. Among other things, only with peaceful breeds of bees and exclusively for their own needs.
