As the holiday season approaches, beauty brands are actively collaborating with artists and designers. Kommersant Style talks about the most interesting works.
Traditional New Year’s limited editions, “limits” are a great way to show cosmetics in a new light, make it unique, and above all due to a memorable design. Collaborations between cosmetic brands and well-known artists are usually short-term, which determines the value of such releases – their number is limited. Often they become a collector’s item and therefore it is worth keeping track of such releases. And even though not all of them will reach Russia this year, this does not make them any less significant or desirable.
Vilhelm Parfumerie
Vilhelm Parfumerie, Lucky Yellow fragrance collection. It includes three bestsellers: Dear Polly, Morning Chess and Mango Skin in a bottle of 10 ml each. The publication was designed by the Spanish artist Bella Baguena, who combines music, performance, and other visual arts in her work. The name Lucky Yellow itself is a collective image of memories of summer, the taste of your favorite desserts, an absent-mindedly drawn figure that appears on paper while you are talking on the phone or listening to someone, the pleasant little things that make up life.
Frederic Malle
Frederic Malle x Pierre Hardy. Designer Pierre Hardy came up with a festive presentation for the Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle line. The collection includes a men’s set with Vetiver Extraordinaire, French Lover and Bigarade Concentree and a women’s set with hits Portrait of a Lady, Musc Ravageur and Eau de Magnolia. There are also leather cosmetic bags in three shades and a travel-sized fragrance case.
Guerlain
Guerlain L’Heure Bleue Yves Klein Edition. The famous upside-down heart-shaped bottle of Guerlain L’Heure Bleue is painted in the equally famous shade of blue, which was invented by the French abstract artist Yves Cline. The signature electric blue in this case is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the oriental floral fragrance, which was invented by the company’s founder Jacques Guerlain in 1912. A 1.5 liter bottle of perfume will sell for £13,500, and only 30 pieces will be handcrafted.
Byredo
Byredo has released perfumed candles, fragrances, make-up products – all designed by Egyptian artist-cook Layla Gohar, who is known for her multi-sensory installations at the intersection of food, art, design and fashion.
Oribe
The Oribe Signature Experience hair collection was designed by Japanese decorator Kohei Kemori. The Holiday 2022 limited edition is a tribute to traditional Japanese motifs: garden landscapes and images of animals and plants united by the theme of hair, and the colors of the work are reminiscent of the fragrances and colors of the Cote d’Azur.
