Ruslan Kudashov: “The director’s task is not to relax”

The chief director of the St. Petersburg Bolshoi Puppet Theater (BTK), winner of the Golden Mask, Ruslan Kudashov, speaks to the audience in the language of philosophical parables. His performances on eternal themes – about the search for love, finding inner freedom, the ability to remain human – turn out to be modern and overcome not only age differences, but also prejudices and conventions. Having headed the troupe in 2006, Kudashov turned the BTK into a theatrical ark, where one can find not only an unbanal interpretation of an always topical plot, but also a psychological foothold. In an interview with Vedomosti, Kudashov spoke about the laws of theatrical energy exchange, as well as his own way of making the stage a protected area of freedom.
