Ekaterinburg basketball club “Uralmash” beat BC “Kupol-Rodniki” from Izhevsk in the first home match of the regular season of the Superleague.
The match of the third round of the Superleague was a milestone for the “orange-black-greens”. For four seasons, Uralmash hosted rivals in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, and, finally, the team won the opportunity to host home matches at the Yekaterinburg Sports Palace.
In the first real home match for a long time, the “factory workers” faced “Kupol-Rodniki” from Izhevsk. Uralmash, being the current champion of the Superleague, was considered the favorite of the meeting. Yekaterinburgers confirmed their status in the first quarter, making a reserve of 16 points. In the future, the wards of Mikhail Terekhov increased their advantage. The final meeting recorded the victory of Uralmash with a score of 90:69.
Uralmash will play the next matches on the road. On October 28, the Urals will meet in Moscow with CSKA-2, and on October 31 in St. Petersburg with Zenit-2.
Recall that in the 2021/2022 season, Uralmash won the Superleague title. The Factory workers set a tournament record with a streak of 23 wins in a row, including winning all nine playoff matches.
In the off-season, Uralmash applied to join the United League, but was refused. Shortly thereafter, head coach Evgeny Pashutin and Superleague MVP Justin Roberson left the team. Mikhail Terekhov was appointed as a new mentor.
