Baza: in the Karelian village they could not mobilize anyone - the men went to the forests for cranberries

The Telegram channel Baza published a message about the Karelian village of Sheltozero, in which the military registration and enlistment office was unable to mobilize anyone. According to the channel, attempts to hand over the summonses were unsuccessful, because there was not a single man in the village.

The report says that at the end of September, houses in Sheltozero began to be visited with subpoenas, “the local administration even began to call recruits,” and also notified residents of the mobilization on social networks. However, no one came to the military registration and enlistment office, since none of the local residents were at the place of residence.

Baza points out that the local administration explained the incident simply – at this time of the year, cranberries are being harvested, and citizens traditionally go to forests, abandoned villages and hunting lodges for a long time to collect berries.

“The administration does not know exactly where the men are now,” the statement said.

There are also reports that a similar situation has developed in the village of Rybreka, where only a few people were eventually mobilized.
