The head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to present a report on the progress of the investigation of the criminal case related to the death of three children as a result of a collision between a freight train and a car in the Stavropol Territory.

The case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which concerns violation of traffic safety rules and operation of railway transport, which due to negligence resulted in the death of two or more persons.

The incident occurred on February 11, 2024 at a controlled railway crossing, where there was an automatic traffic light signal. A freight train collided with a car carrying three children. As a result of the incident, they died on the spot, and the woman was hospitalized in serious condition.
