Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin ordered an inspection after the death of the cat Twix, who was thrown out of a train. This was reported in the press service of the department.
“The head of the department instructed the acting head of the Central MSUT of the Investigative Committee of Russia A. A. Perepelitsyn to organize a procedural check into the incident and submit a report,” the press service said.
They reminded that the cat was on the train legally, and the owner issued a paper receipt.
The cat was previously found dead near Kirov. The cat survived alone in the cold for more than a week while hundreds of volunteers searched for him. They didn’t have time just a little bit – the cat’s body was discovered a few hours after his death. There were traces of dogs around, probably the weakened animal was unable to escape from them.
After the story with the cat, Russian Railways promised to change the rules for transporting animals and prohibit staff from throwing them out of trains. Instead, it is proposed to hand over ownerless pets to station employees.
