The Novgorod team “Ilmer – Sparta” reached the final of the Russian basketball championship among teams under 18 years old. The Ministry of Sports of the Novgorod Region spoke about this.
The matches of the semi-final tournament took place in the village of Pokrovskoye near Moscow. In the decisive game, Novgorod basketball players met with the team from the Moscow region. The Ilmer – Sparta team won in overtime.
Basketball players from Veliky Novgorod won bronze medals and received a ticket to the finals of the Russian Basketball Championship, which will take place in April 2024.
The regional Ministry of Sports noted that Novgorod basketball players have gone through a difficult path from the interregional to the semi-final stage. This result was the fruit of joint efforts to develop basketball in the Novgorod region by BC Ilmer and the Sparta secondary school.
Previously “MK in Veliky Novgorod” reportedthat Novgorod athletes won 15 medals at competitions in Yaroslavl.
