The last Baku refugees left without housing are being evicted from the capital’s Kuzminki hotel.
As MK learned, 72-year-old Zetta Zeynalova and her daughter Regina Matatieva were at the center of the conflict with eviction. In 1990, by decision of the capital’s executive committee, a large group of refugees forced to flee Baku during the escalation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict were placed in a hotel in the southeast of Moscow. Over time, almost everyone was provided with permanent housing; only Zeynalova and Matatieva remained in the hotel. Their right to stay in a hotel was confirmed by the court.
However, the other day the electricity in the room was turned off, and today the new owner, to whom the hotel room was sold, tried to forcibly evict the women. The refugees prepared a statement to the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor’s office with a request to conduct an investigation and initiate a criminal case on the fact of arbitrariness.
