Baidu sues Apple over fake copies of its chatbot

Chinese technology corporation Baidu has filed a lawsuit in a Beijing court against Apple, accusing the company of hosting fake copies of the Baidu-developed ERNIE chat bot in its App Store. This is reported Reuters. In addition to Apple, counterfeiters are listed among the defendants in the lawsuit.
Baidu held an ERNIE presentation in mid-March. The Chinese company advertised its product as an analogue of the sensational ChatGPT, the chat bot of the American company OpenAI. However, the presentation of ERNIE was held behind closed doors, the capabilities of the bot were not demonstrated live, but with the help of short videos recorded in advance. In addition, the chatbot is currently available only to a limited number of users, and only corporate ones. All this disappointed investors, so after the ERNIE presentation of Baidu shares fell on 10%.
In the lawsuit, Baidu claimed that ERNIE does not have an official app, so all App Store options are fake. According to Reuters, the app store had at least four apps with the Chinese name of the chatbot as of Saturday.
