Bachelor’s degree is equated to full higher education

Diplomas of graduates of higher educational institutions, in which the degree of “bachelor” is recorded, are going to be recognized as diplomas of complete higher education. This opinion was expressed by the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Andrey Fursenko.
A few months ago, Russia announced the withdrawal of their Bologna system of education, which provided for the division of higher education into two levels – bachelor’s and master’s degrees. After that, an active discussion began in pedagogical circles about what universities should do with the already established training programs for these two levels? Some scholarly minds suggested returning to the Soviet system, when there were no steps, and in universities, basically, they studied for five years. Other academics have argued for institutions of higher learning to decide for themselves how many years they teach students and what these programs are called.
And now, it seems that certainty may appear in this issue. According to Andrei Fursenko, the bachelor’s degree can be indicated in the diplomas of university graduates, if necessary, along with the name of the specialty.
“I think that for people who will study for four or five years, and now there is a five-year bachelor’s degree, if necessary, it will be quite possible to indicate in the diploma: a graduate and a bachelor in brackets,” the presidential aide noted.
