Bach: IOC will decide in March on Russia’s admission to the Olympics

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said that the final decision regarding the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be made at a meeting of the organization’s executive committee in March.
Bach emphasized that the issue of Russian participation was not discussed at the last meeting of the executive committee. The Olympic summit on December 5 is scheduled to address the geopolitical situation and its impact on sports. The IOC President noted that the latest UN decision on this issue, which calls for an Olympic Truce and supports the IOC approach, will be taken into account.
Depending on the dialogue at the Olympic summit, the IOC Executive Board will make a final decision in the coming months, namely at a meeting in March.
Previously, the IOC Executive Committee recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes be allowed to participate in international competitions in a neutral status, provided that they are not associated with Russian military structures and did not speak out in support of the SVO.
