“Avtomobilist” won a strong-willed victory over the champion

On January 16, HC Avtomobilist in Yekaterinburg won a strong-willed victory over the current winner of the Gagarin Cup, the CSKA team from Moscow. The meeting ended with a score of 3:2.
The visitors opened the scoring in the game, but it was equalized by the Chauffeurs’ player Brooks Macek. CSKA again took the lead in the first period. The outcome of the game occurred in the third period. First, Andrey Obidin equalized the score, and then Denis Barantsev brought Avtomobilist ahead.
“It’s great that we turned the tide of the match, we added good goals in the third period, it was a good fighting game, like in the playoffs, where there was a lot of fight,” Avtomobilist head coach Nikolai Zavarukhin said after the game. “And so, the guys are great, they showed the Ural character, turned the game around and won.”
After this victory, Avtomobilist moved into fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The team will also play its next game in Yekaterinburg. On January 17, the drivers will receive the Admiral team from Vladivostok.
MK-Ural previously wrote that HC Avtomobilist lost to Lada Tolyatti with a score of 3:4 in the KHL regular season match. The game took place on Saturday, January 13, at the Uralets Cultural Center.
Nikita Popugaev, Sergey Shumakov and Andrey Altybarmakyan scored goals for the team from Tolyatti. Danil Romantsev, Curtis Volk and Stefan Da Costa scored for Avtomobilist.
