Since August 2023, the department has suspended supplies of feed to the company from a plant in the Netherlands due to discrepancies between the declared composition and the actual one. It is noted that undeclared DNA was found in Hill’s Science Plan cat food in peas, soybeans and canola. “The manufacturer of “premium” feed misled consumers by replacing meat components with plant-based ones in order to reduce costs,” reported Rosselkhoznadzor.

Also in 2021, due to unsatisfactory results of the on-site inspection, supplies of feed and feed additives from the Czech Republic were suspended. At the same time, a temporary ban was introduced on the import of feed from the United States, since “unregistered genetically modified components” were repeatedly detected in the products.
