The .RU/.РФ domain center announced a solution to the problem with access to Runet

The technical problem that caused the unavailability of sites in the .RU zone has been resolved. This was announced on the evening of Tuesday, January 30, at the Coordination Center for Domains .RU/RU.

Roskomnadzor also confirmed that access to sites and applications in the .RU domain zone has been restored. They emphasized that providers and owners of autonomous systems in the Russian Federation using the resolution of the National Domain Name System (NDNS) are operating as normal.

At the same time, the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation warned that problems with the DNS may continue for some time. The department clarified that the technical problem was related to the global infrastructure DNSSEC – a set of extensions to the DNS protocol, which guarantees the integrity and reliability of data.

The Ministry of Digital Development also warned that problems with the DNS may continue for some time until the updated data is distributed throughout the domain name system.

In October 2023, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Oleg Khramov warned that Russia could find itself in a situation wars in the information technology and Internet space with the Anglo-Saxons in the broad sense of the word.

In July, sources said that regular exercises were held on Russian territory to ensure secure and sustainable functioning of the Internet. The fact of the exercise was confirmed by a representative of Roskomnadzor, without specifying details. He recalled that in accordance with the law “On the Sovereign Runet”, exercises must be held at least once a year.
