Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin said it is necessary to make efforts to prevent “possible attempts at external interference” in the presidential elections, which will be held March 15-17, 2024. On December 15, President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with leaders of State Duma factions, said that any interference in Russia’s internal affairs during the elections “will be suppressed and dealt with harshly.” He added that the only source of power in the country is “the people and only the people of Russia.”
