General Staff: the missile that violated Polish airspace was Russian
The Polish General Staff, without providing any evidence, stated that the object that violated the republic’s airspace today was a “Russian missile.”
Earlier it was reported that an unknown object crossed into Polish airspace from the Ukrainian border. He was observed by the air defense system and then disappeared. Because of this, the Polish Armed Forces were put on alert, and later President Andrzej Duda convened an emergency meeting with the military.
The message from the Office of the President of Poland noted that Duda held an emergency meeting with the Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Wieslaw Kukula, as well as with ministers and a number of other military personnel.
The operational commander of the Polish army, who was present at the meeting, said that planes were scrambled to shoot down the target, but they did not have time, since the object disappeared from the radar.
