ATP promises guaranteed income of $300,000 a year for tennis players from the top 100

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) will launch a financial security program for tennis players. Athletes will receive payments ranging from $300,000 to $75,000 per year, and will also receive funding in the event of an injury.
As stated in press release organizations, a program called Baseline will launch in 2024. It will operate in pilot mode for three years. After 2026, the program may be extended.
Under the financial security program, tennis players from the top 100 in the ATP rating will receive $300,000 annually. The amount of payments for athletes in places 101-175 of the rating will be $150 thousand per year, for places 176-250 – $75 thousand. Payments are intended to pay for the work of coaches, doctors, as well as transportation costs.
Athletes who, due to injury, will take part in less than nine ATP tournaments in a season will also receive payments. For tennis players in the top 100, the amount of payments will be $200,000 per year, for places 101-175 – $100,000, for places 176-250 – $50,000.
Also, novice players who make it to the top 125 for the first time will be able to receive payments in the amount of $200,000. Funds will be paid before the start of the next season and counted towards prize money.
Between 30 and 45 players in each season will be able to receive financial assistance. They will be selected according to several criteria: the player’s rating, the amount of prize money received and the number of matches played.
