The International Tennis Federation (ITF), the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and Kosmos, which has hosted the Davis Cup since 2019, have announced a strategic partnership for the 123-year-old tournament. According to a new agreement between the three organizations, two of the six members of the Davis Cup Committee being formed will be ATP representatives. In addition, starting from next season, three weeks are fixed in her calendar for the qualifying matches and the decisive stage of this tournament: in early February after the Australian Open, in mid-September after the US Open and in late November after the final tournament. It is understood that this will help the Davis Cup participants to plan their calendar of performances. At the same time, rating points will still not be awarded to them, since the composition of the national teams in this tournament is determined by their captains, who are not required to be guided by the position in the ATP classification.

This agreement should be seen as a continuation of the ITF’s line of rapprochement with two professional organizations – the ATP and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). Recall that last week it was announced that the ATP Cup men’s tournament, which has been held for the past three years, will be transformed into the United Cup national teams tournament, in which both men and women will participate.
