The Ilta-Sanomat newspaper reports that the organizers of the World Ice Hockey Championship during the group stage match between the national teams of Sweden and Hungary, held in Finnish Tampere, demanded that the fan take off his T-shirt with the inscription “Russia”.
According to World Cup security manager Ville Ketonen, one of the Hungarian fans came to the stands wearing a white T-shirt without the team’s logo, but on which “Russia” was written. It is noted that the fan followed the requirements of the organizers to take off his T-shirt, after which he continued to watch the match.
At the end of April, the head of the organizing committee of the Riga part of the tournament, Edgars Buncis, promised that the state flags of the Russian Federation and Belarus would be banned during the championship games.
