The leadership of the Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MGU) decided to add topics on the work of a journalist in conditions of armed conflict to the course “Journalist in Extreme Situations”. Earlier today, on October 27, Ruslan Novikov, director general of the Arguments and Facts publishing house, said that a military journalism course was being created at Moscow State University.
“The course is supposed to expand the study of the technologies of journalistic activity in conditions of armed conflict, the legal and ethical norms of the behavior of a military correspondent, the principles of the safe behavior of a journalist,” the press service said. The course “Journalist in extreme situations” has been conducted for more than ten years, it was developed in cooperation with the psychological service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The course also includes issues of the work of a journalist in the conditions of natural disasters and man-made disasters.
The updated course includes meetings with well-known Russian media military commanders who will share their experience. It also plans to use the practice of training courses for journalists to work in hot spots.
In early September, it was reported that President Vladimir Putin could once again meet with war correspondents covering the military operation in Ukraine before the end of the year. TASS said the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov. Earlier, the president had a brief talk with military commanders in June on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. October 17 Ministry of Digital Development promised legal and informational support to military commissars. The ministry also said it was “categorically opposed to any attempt to influence” their activities.
