Astrophysicists have found that alternating current may prevent the emergence of life on some planets

Astrophysicists from the United States have concluded that some planets considered potentially habitable in terms of their distance from their star may not be suitable for life.

Scientists said the star’s extreme short-wave ultraviolet radiation could transform atoms in the planet’s upper layer into ions. An alternating current is created in the upper layer of the atmosphere, it heats up, and this can cause it to be deprived of the atmosphere, according to a publication in The Astrophysical Journal.

One of the planets whose habitability probability can be revised taking into account alternating current is called TRAPPIST-1e.
