In the 13th round of the championship of the men’s Russian water polo Super League, Dynamo-SSHOR hosted the champion and winner of the country’s Cup, Spartak-Volgograd, in the capital of the Caspian Sea. The blue and white won both matches in a penalty shootout.
Before the head-to-head matches, Dynamo were ahead of the “red-whites” by 4 points. Both matches turned out to be tough. The first game ended with a score of 8:8. In the penalty shootout, the Astrakhan team converted all 5 of their attempts, and the goalkeeper and captain of the “blue and white” Kirill Korneev coped with the shot from Volgograd Vladimir Nezhinsky – 13:12.
During the regular time of the rematch, the winner was also not revealed – 10:10. The Astrakhan team succeeded again in the water polo lottery – 15:13. “Dynamo-SSHOR” continues to lead in the national championship. On February 2 and 3, Dynamo will play in Kazan with another contender for the championship – KOS-Sintez.
But the Astrakhan understudies again did not please. The SSHOR team of the Astrakhan region lost twice in St. Petersburg to Baltika – 4:21 and 4:19.
