Chess player Anatoly Karpov’s assistant Albert Stepanyan said that the grandmaster had not yet been discharged from the hospital and had not even been transferred to a regular ward. The 12th world champion remains under medical supervision.
According to Stepanyan, Karpov is on the mend, is actively working and “always on the phone.”
On November 11, information appeared in the media that Karpov was taken off the ventilator. Subsequently, it was suggested that he could soon be discharged.
Karpov was hospitalized at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute with a fractured femoral neck and head injury after a fall. He was also diagnosed with mild pneumonia.
