Blogger and designer Artemy Lebedev considered the changed design of Russian banknotes shameful. He expressed his opinion in a news review on VKontakte.
Commenting on the news about the new design of banknotes in denominations of 1 and 5 thousand rubles, Lebedev said that both design options were unsuccessful. “What the Central Bank is now releasing is, of course, an absolute, just a complete disgrace (…),” said the designer.
In his opinion, the appearance of banknotes is part of the country’s “visual propaganda and agitation.” In this regard, the designer noted that their design can influence the attitude of citizens and foreigners towards the state. According to Lebedev, the money should be designed in such a way that people immediately develop love for the country.
On October 18, it became known that the Central Bank of the Russian Federation had stopped issuing a new thousand-ruble banknote due to its dubious design.
