Designer and blogger Artemy Lebedev came to Chechnya, where he received a diploma for second place in the competition for the master plan of Grozny. In his Telegram channel he reported that he met with the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, and apologized to him for all his statements that could have offended him.
“I was able to talk face to face with Ramzan Kadyrov for five minutes. I personally asked for forgiveness and apologized to Ramzan for everything that my statements might have offended him. It turns out that his assistants and press secretaries send him everything to be offended by, but do not send him anything to be proud of. And I always respected Ramzan and often praised him for the decisions he made, although this is not fashionable in Russia,” the designer wrote.
In November 2019, Artemy Lebedev turned to Ramzan Kadyrov after statements by the head of Chechnya at a meeting of the regional government. According to a translation by the BBC Russian Service, Ramzan Kadyrov said in Chechen that insulting honor on the Internet should be punished by “killing, imprisoning, frightening.” The press service of the head of Chechnya called this translation incorrect.
In an address to Ramzan Kadyrov, Artemy Lebedev wrote in his Telegram channel: “They are so afraid of you that they are silent in response. And I am not silent. …You call for killing for offense. Think about it – who are you telling this to? Ordinary people. What if tomorrow a proud Chechen youth gets offended and decides to kill his offender? He will be confident that he is right, because you are an authority for him.” This channel has now been deleted.
