On November 5, at the age of 65, Russian art critic and ex-husband of Avdotya Smirnova Arkady Ippolitov died. The death of the world’s leading expert in the field of Italian art of the 15th–17th centuries was announced by artist Maxim Atayants.
Ippolitov held the position of senior researcher in the Department of Western European Fine Arts of the Hermitage. Curator of exhibitions of classical and contemporary art in Russia and abroad. Author of more than six hundred scientific and critical publications.
In the 1990s – Member of the Board of the Pro Arte Institute, from 1991 to 2009. was associated with general scientific work with the Dutch scientist Jan van der Waals. In the 2000s he taught art history at the European University in St. Petersburg.
