Portal Transfermarkt has updated the assessment of the cost of players playing in the clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL). The list of the most expensive football players in the league is still dominated by representatives of Zenit. They occupy the first five places. The most expensive RPL player, according to Transfermarkt, remains St. Petersburg striker Malcom (€22 million). Zenit midfielder Wilmar Barrios is worth €2 million less, another St. Petersburg midfielder, Wendel, is valued at €19 million. The top 5 also included other Zenit players – midfielder Claudinho (€18 million) and defender Douglas Santos (€16 million).

The most expensive Russian player, Krasnodar goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, is also valued at €16 million. He is followed by Dynamo forward Arsen Zakharyan at €15 million. Zakharyan has become one of the most expensive RPL players over the past year. He added €3 million in price. Recall that in the summer the possibility of Zakharyan’s transfer to Chelsea was discussed just for €15 million, but the deal never took place. Krasnodar midfielder Eduard Spertsyan (he is valued at €9 million and occupies 12th place) and Lokomotiv striker Wilson Isidor (received a value of €6 million and rose to 30- e place).

The total value of the players of the RPL clubs, according to Transfermarkt, is €733.8 million. For comparison: the squads of all teams of the cheapest of the leagues included in the European Big Five, the French, are estimated at €3.36 billion. And the top line in The ranking, of course, is occupied by the English Premier League – € 9.25 billion.
