Two arrested officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia admitted their guilt in receiving a bribe from the rector of the Catholic Church of St. Louis, located on Malaya Lubyanka in Moscow. According to the military investigation, colonels Evgeny Lobanov and Denis Karmanov admitted receiving almost 20 million rubles between March and October 2023. However, they do not agree with the classification of the crime, TASS reports.
According to the criminal case, the officers promised the rector of the Roman Catholic church to make decisions in his favor in the arbitration court. Some of the criminally obtained funds were found on the accused during a search at their place of residence. The arrested admitted guilt, but disagreed regarding the classification of the crime charged to them by the investigation.
