A soldier of the Armenian armed forces died after shelling from Azerbaijan, the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported on its website. The message is quoted by RIA Novosti.
As specified, the shelling took place on Friday. Earlier, the defense ministries of the two countries exchanged accusations of using mortars on the border.
At the same time, the Armenian military department reports a decrease in the intensity of fire on the border.
Earlier it was reported about the aggravation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The Armenian side reported four wounded. In Baku, they announced the death of one military man and a severe wound of another.
Armenia and Azerbaijan, mediated by Russia, the United States and the European Union, have begun discussing a future peace treaty. In early February of this year, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Armenia received Azerbaijan’s next proposals on a peace treaty and is studying them. Later, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan, in turn, also submitted proposals for a peace treaty to Baku.
