Yerevan sent to the National Assembly a document on the ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which will oblige the country to extradite war crimes suspects at the request of The Hague. Sputnik Armenia writes about this, referring to the press service of the government.

The text of the bill has not yet been posted on the website of the Parliament, and its details have not yet been disclosed.

Armenia started the process of ratifying the Rome Statute towards the end of last year. Representatives of the republic explained this decision by the opportunity to raise the issue of Azerbaijan’s war crimes against Armenia in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh at the ICC.

The Russian side gave a very negative assessment of Yerevan’s initiative in connection with the decision of the ICC to issue an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova.
