The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine charged in absentia the chairman of the CEC of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova, her deputy Nikolai Bulaev and secretary Natalya Budarina on the fact of preparing the upcoming elections in Russia. About it reported in the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
“The chairman, deputy and secretary of the CEC of the Russian Federation are suspected of encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. <...> They are charged with encroachments on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine,” the statement said.
As noted in the Prosecutor General’s Office, all three took part in the preparation and holding of referendums and elections in the territory of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
In a commentary to TASS, Pamfilova noted that she did not have time to pay attention to the case initiated by the Ukrainian side. “Now there is neither time nor inclination to pay attention to such an insignificant occasion,” she said.
This year, the unified voting day in Russia will take place on September 10. Elections from September 8 to 10 will also be held in new regions – the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Residents will elect deputies to local legislative assemblies, which will then hold a vote to elect the heads of subjects.
The new regions became part of the Russian Federation following the results of referendums on September 30, 2022. Since October of the same year, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, martial law has been introduced in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions due to regular shelling from Ukraine.
