Arkhangelsk will show the history of sports through the design of award documents

A new exhibition “Parallel Cultures” about the history of sports through the design of award documents has opened at the Nord Arena sports center.

The exposition presents an exclusive collection of diplomas, certificates, cups, badges (more than 300 exhibits), which became a reward for the sporting achievements of Russian champions and prize-winners of competitions in the 20-80s of the XX century.

The exposition is designed to demonstrate the successes of athletes of the Arkhangelsk region, as well as the best manifestations of a special direction in graphics – the design of award documents.

The exhibits of the exhibition allow us to trace the change in the artistic component of sports paraphernalia over the decades and are the most interesting documents of the era.

So on the letter of 1944, in addition to the slogan “Death to the fascist invaders!” occupations in military-applied types of physical activity, as well as skiing are depicted: intensified propaganda of these types of physical activity was actively carried out at the turn of the 1930-1940s, including in connection with the Finnish military campaign. Among the awards there are copies made by hand and in the technique of photography. Diplomas of the publishing house of the Dynamo society bear the stamp of a professional approach. And those printed in the Soviet Tallinne are notable for their laconic artistic solution. Pennants and badges were issued en masse. But medals and cups most often had an individual character, they were sculpted for holding only one sporting event.

All exhibits are part of the fund of the Museum of the History of Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region.
