More than 20 well-preserved bronze statues, which are 2,000 years old, have been found by archaeologists in Italy. This was reported by the Italian Ministry of Culture.
Archaeologists excavated an ancient temple near thermal springs in Tuscany. Here, 24 bronze statues dated to the 2nd-1st centuries BC were discovered. They are in excellent condition, having lain in mud and hot water.
The springs in question are located in the Tuscan commune of San Casciano dei Bagni. There are 42 hot springs here, the water temperature in which reaches 40 degrees. The baths here were founded by the ruler of the Etruscan city of Clusius Lars Porsena.
In 2019, archaeologists began excavations here. Scientists have discovered an ancient sanctuary that existed from the time of the Etruscans and almost until the end of the Roman Empire. In the sanctuary were the altars of Apollo, Isis and Fortune and the sacred pool.
