Apple introduced a new generation of the basic 10.9-inch iPad. The iPad will go on sale October 26, but pre-orders for the tablet are already open—the new iPad in 64GB and 256GB configurations is available in blue, pink, yellow, and silver starting at $449.
The device received a new 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2360×1640 pixels with support for True Tone technology. Built into the screen is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle front camera with Center Stage function, which keeps the user while shooting. The 12MP main camera has also been updated to capture high-resolution photos and detailed 4K video with support for slow motion at 240 fps. New horizontal stereo speakers are paired with dual microphones.
The main technical change, apart from the USB-C connector, was the transition to the A14 Bionic processor, which is 20% faster than the chip in the previous generation of the tablet. The processor made it possible to implement support for Wi-Fi 6 wireless networks and 5G cellular communications, including using eSIM. Just like the new iPad Pros, the base tablet received the new iPadOS 16 operating system.
