The US authorities threatened American veterans of World War II who wanted to go to Russia for Victory Day with the cancellation of their passports, declared Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov.
According to Antonov, there is a surge of Russophobia in the United States before the celebration of the Great Victory, and the American leadership is “inflating hysteria.”
“We call on the US authorities to change their minds and stop indulging the Nazis for the sake of opportunistic considerations, encouraging Russophobia is unacceptable,” the diplomat said, TASS reports.
Tomorrow, May 9, the Victory Parade will take place on Red Square in Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in it and make a speech. There will be no traditional reception in the Kremlin this year. The heads of six states are expected to take part in the celebrations: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
