Another section of the M-12 Vostok highway near Moscow to be opened in September

The section of the M-12 Vostok highway connecting the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD) and the Central Ring Road (TsKAD), bypassing Balashikha and Elektrostal, will be put into operation in September 2023. This was announced yesterday at Transstroymekhanizatsiya (one of the contractors of the state company Avtodor). The new highway with a length of more than 800 km will connect the largest regional centers and agglomerations (Moscow, Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod regions, the republics of Chuvashia and Tatarstan) with a network of high-speed roads in the European part of Russia (M-11 Neva, Central Ring Road, M-3 Ukraine, M-1 “Belarus”, M-4 “Don”). With the commissioning of the M-12, the road from Moscow to Kazan will take only 6.5 hours, Avtodor promises. Now the travel time on this route is more than 12 hours.
The 42.5 km section will have six traffic lanes and include sixteen overpasses, three pedestrian crossings and one bridge. Now the road is 50% ready, the company said, work is underway to fill the ground bed. The embankment is more than 90% complete, the sand foundation is more than 70%. The facility employs 1.6 thousand specialists and 479 units of equipment, at the peak of the construction season it is planned to attract up to 3.8 thousand specialists and at least 1.2 thousand units of equipment, Transstroymekhanizatsiya reported.
Recall that in 2022, the movement of cars was opened along two sections of M-12: from the Central Ring Road to the “large concrete road” (A-108) and from M-7 Volga bypassing Petushki to the federal highway R-132 “Golden Ring” . Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin has already promised President Vladimir Putin that the highway from Moscow to Arzamas will be launched in all sections on September 9, and to Kazan by the end of the year. The total length of M-12 exceeds 800 km, the amount of funding is 911.6 billion rubles. The city authorities are simultaneously completing the construction of the remaining eastern part of the MSD: the section from Pokrovskaya Street to Zeninskoye Highway (the junction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter with M-12) was opened for traffic in January 2023, the missing 4.8-kilometer section between Lukhmanovskaya and Pokrovskaya will be completed in September streets.
