Another brigade commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine arrested in Moscow for shelling residents of Donbass

In Moscow, the Basmanny District Court arrested Vyacheslav Kotlik, commander of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in absentia. The militant was put on the international wanted list on charges of shelling civilians in Donbass last year.
Kotlik, who is accused of committing a crime under the criminal article “Use of Prohibited Means and Methods of Warfare,” was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention for 2 months from the moment he was detained in Russia or extradited to the country, said court spokeswoman Yekaterina Buravtsova.
Earlier, the court granted similar petitions of the investigation against four more commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in the shelling of the civilian population in Donbass in 2015 and 2016. A. Zhakun, A. Lutsenko, V. Yushko and O. Zenchenko were arrested in absentia by the court.
In 2021, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the DPR reported on the initiation of criminal cases against three commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine brigade and their subordinates, suspected of involvement in the shelling of the republic on October 15-18. 8 cases were opened on the grounds of a crime under the article of the Criminal Code of the DPR “Terrorist act”.
According to the investigation, on October 15 and 17, servicemen of the brigade under the command of Kotlik opened fire on Horlivka. The glazing of 2 residential buildings was damaged. On October 17, an airborne brigade under the command of Oleg Zenchenko damaged the Razdolnaya transformer substation by shelling, leaving the villages of Verkhnetoretskoye and Krasny Partizan near Yasinovataya without electricity. The Donetsk Mechanical Plant also came under fire. On October 18, a mechanized brigade under the command of Aleksey Maistrenko fired at Donetsk. The production workshop of the mechanical plant, 4 residential buildings, a utility building and a car were damaged.
