The famous Soviet and Russian announcer, actor and radio host Vladimir Berezin said in an interview “Gazeta.Ru”that before her death, People’s Artist of Russia Svetlana Morgunova suffered from dementia. He was unable to congratulate her on her birthday, and the last time he communicated with her was a month ago.
“She was always in one state, she was already in dementia. She could be glad that you were calling, or she could talk coldly. She could say: “I’m waiting for you to visit,” she could say: “don’t come, I don’t want to see anyone , I want to die, I want to go to Max,” he said.
Morgunova’s son Maxim died in 2020. Berezin believes that Morgunova was no longer so worried about his loss due to dementia. He noted that the condition of the disease limits both feelings and capacity.
He also emphasizes that Morgunova was a devoted friend and a unique professional. Her voice was her signature and carried with it a special atmosphere.
Svetlana Morgunova died on March 10 at the age of 84. She was born on March 7, 1940 in Moscow and was famous for her work as an announcer on the USSR Central Television, and also hosted popular programs such as Blue Light and Morning Mail.
