On Saturday, January 28, the seven-day Unified Games of the Special Olympics in Kazan ended. Andrey Nikitin, Governor of the Novgorod Region, congratulated the athletes who represented the region at the competitions on the prizes.
In all five sports, the Novgorodians were on the podium. In the snowshoe run, the athletes took one first and two second places, in track and field athletics – the first place at a distance of 800 meters. The governor wrote about this on his VKontakte page.
Gymnasts brought gold and silver, while volleyball and football teams won bronze.
In total, more than 1,500 athletes, almost 900 volunteers and over 400 judges gathered at the competition.
