Since the opening of the Moscow Spinal Center for Neurosurgery of the Spine, City Hospital No. 67 named after L.A. Vorokhobov in 2013, specialists performed over 10 thousand high-tech operations.
“Over the past 25 years in Moscow, the number of operations for injuries and diseases of the spine in the city’s neurosurgical hospitals has increased 5 times, for degenerative diseases of the spinal column – 6.8 times, for injuries of the spine and spinal cord – 4.8 times, with oncological diseases of the spinal cord and spine – 2.8 times, for spondylitis – 81 times,” said Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development Anastasia Rakova.
She added that the number of operations for the consequences of spinal injuries has decreased by 10 times. Thus, at the Moscow Spinal Center, patients can receive the full range of assistance from comprehensive diagnostics to rehabilitation. In addition, the center was the first in the capital’s healthcare practice, thanks to its ultra-modern innovative equipment, to receive the status of an “AO Spine” reference center. Here professionals are developing new methods and technologies in the field of spinal neurosurgery. For example, previously professional athletes who underwent surgery often ended their careers. Now, thanks to the innovative approach of the center’s doctors, they return to sports without restrictions, within 3-4 weeks.
