An orphanage teacher ended up on the street because of scammers pretending to be the FSB

Former orphans saved him

In the city of Novodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Region, telephone scammers scammed a former orphanage teacher. Through obsessive psychological attacks, the criminals forced the pensioner to sell his only apartment and transfer 2 million 375 thousand rubles to their account. The 76-year-old man could have remained on the street if not for unexpected help. Former orphans – students of Anatoly Vasilyevich – chipped in to buy housing for the teacher and drew the attention of influential people to his problem.

Talking about telephone scammers, Anatoly Vasilyevich cannot hold back his tears. The scammers processed it for almost a year. First they called and introduced themselves as FSB officers from Moscow itself. The “committee members” said that his apartment was put up for sale on the Internet. The only way to save her is to buy her out before the “scammers”. In this way, the pensioner will save the apartment and take part in the “special operation.”

3 million rubles were urgently needed for ransom. The money had to be deposited into a “safe account.” Then “FSB officers” promised to return them.

The pensioner fell for the bait and hurried to get rid of the apartment. Living space in Novodvinsk went for 1 million 200 thousand. To get to the required amount, the pensioner also transferred personal savings to the scammers – 1 million 175 thousand rubles. But even this was not enough for the FSB. They asked for another 400 thousand “to catch especially important cybercriminals.” Allegedly, they have already found one villain, now they need to find the whole gang.

“The processing lasted 12 days, from morning to night,” says Anatoly Vasilyevich. – I know that scammers from banks are calling, I have refused them more than once, but here I fell for hypnosis. After all, the FSB, and from Moscow at that. Now, I think they will slap a criminal charge…

To get 400 thousand rubles, the pensioner called his former pupil. It was she who revealed the deception.

“I asked him: “Why do you need that kind of money?” He replied that he would only be able to tell in two days,” says Olesya Korneva, a former student of Anatoly Volkov.

The girl immediately suspected something was wrong. She called the police and, together with her employees, came to the pensioner. Olesya found the teacher in an inadequate state. “He was worried, his eyes were running,” she recalls. Everything became clear from the explanations. However, it is almost impossible to recover money stolen by telephone scammers. And especially the apartment – after all, it already has a different owner…

Anatoly Volkov worked in an orphanage for 30 years. He started with summer practice when he received a Komsomol permit to a labor camp for teenagers. And it got so long that I transferred to work at the Novinsky orphanage. Colleagues say that Anatoly Vasilyevich’s guys have always been the most athletic and tidy: the first at competitions, there is exemplary order in the rooms. For his valiant work, Volkov was awarded the “Excellence in Public Education” badge. He is the author of several books on pedagogy.

During his working life, Anatoly Vasilyevich released 186 orphans. He especially made friends with the guys from the 1986 class. Former orphans visited the teacher and introduced them to their children. We were friends, as they say, with families. In difficult times, they also did not stand aside.

Olesya Korneva, having learned that the orphanage teacher no longer has a home, organized a fundraiser to buy out the home. Local deputies learned about the gathering. They told State Duma deputies about Anatoly, and as a result, Volkov was given back the apartment, which they managed to buy from the owner. He was also given 670 thousand rubles collected by his students.

Thanks to the orphans, Anatoly Vasilyevich moved home. Plump albums with photographs of graduates are again laid out on its shelves, and the hospitable home of the former teacher is still open to friends and colleagues.

Despite the happy ending, police continue to investigate the phone scam case.
