Government of St. Petersburg established an honorary badge “For participation in a special military operation from grateful St. Petersburg,” which will be awarded both to participants of the North Military District and to those who contribute to the military operation far from the front, the press service of the St. Petersburg government reported.
The badge will be awarded to military personnel, members of Cossack and other societies and volunteer formations, employees of territorial bodies of ministries and departments of the Russian Federation, government agencies of St. Petersburg, employees of organizations, enterprises and institutions, members of public and other non-profit organizations, volunteers, entrepreneurs and other residents of St. -Petersburg, who provided assistance in conducting the SVO.
The press service noted that February 24 marks two years since the start of the special military operation. Speaking to members of the government, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov noted the contribution of St. Petersburg residents to the special military operation. The first badges of honor will be presented this week to soldiers undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the Hospital for War Veterans.
“Both warriors and everyone who works in the name of victory are worthy of our deepest respect. The reward they receive will be kept in families and passed on from generation to generation. It will remind us of our heroes,” Mr. Beglov emphasized.
The badge of honor is made in the form of a round medal. On its front side there is a depiction of a military man in uniform against the backdrop of the Peter and Paul Fortress and a figure of an angel with a cross, reminiscent of the sculpture of B.I. Orlovsky crowning the Alexandria Pillar; on the reverse side is the coat of arms of St. Petersburg.
