Valery Zhurba, a 69-year-old athlete from Kostomuksha, won two bronze medals at the competitions in Cheboksary. How told the athlete himself, the athletics championship among veterans took place at the end of July. I had to run in the heat of +35°, but this did not prevent the runner from overcoming distances of 800 meters and 1.5 kilometers.
The second place in the championship was taken by an athlete from South Africa, and the veterans from the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Tatarstan shared the first place.
Recall that this is not the first award of Valery this season. So in July conquered two “gold” at the track and field athletics championship in the Republic of Belarus among veterans. The competitions were held in Minsk on July 22-23. Valery ran 1.5 kilometers in the rain in five and a half minutes, taking first place. On the second day, he won the second “gold” in the 800 meters.
