In the Ural city of Prokopyevsk, a second-grader ran away from home – fortunately, the boy was found quickly enough when he was settling in for the night in a forest park not far from his house. However, the reason that forced the 8-year-old child to take this radical step is very unusual. The boy ran away so that he would not be forced… to marry.

Kolya’s mom (name changed – Auth.) told MK that some time ago her son found out where children come from, and this discovery seemed so terrible to him, and the process itself was so indecent and unpleasant that he firmly decided that he would never get married, so as not to engage in such nonsense.

“The older guys in the yard told him about sex this summer, Kolya realized that people are doing it so that children will be born,” says his mother. “He told me about this and said that he would never marry, because it was disgusting and disgusting to him. I didn’t attach much importance to his words, I thought that he would grow up and understand everything on his own, without explanation.

However, last week in Kolya’s class there was a lesson “Talking about important things”, in which the teacher talked about family values ​​and, in particular, that every person should definitely start a family and have children.

“This time my son didn’t tell me anything,” the mother continues. “I was kind of gloomy for a couple of days, and a few days ago I came home from school, rummaged around a little in the closet and immediately went for a walk – his older brother told me this, I myself was at work at that time. By the way, my brother didn’t notice Kolya leaving the house; in fact, we don’t allow him to walk alone. And when he saw that Kolya was gone, he called me…

The missing boy was found that same evening – in a forest park, where he was setting up a place to sleep for the night using a blanket and sheet taken from home.

“When we returned home together, he told me that he would run away anyway, because if he stayed at home, he would then be forced to marry and have sex,” says the mother. – He said that he would build a house in the forest, where no one would find him and that he would live there alone. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry…

“Despite all the external comedy of this story, parents should not laugh in such cases,” comments child psychologist Elena Moshkova. – Because many problems and doubts that seem frivolous and even funny to us are perceived by children completely differently; they seem insoluble and dramatic to them. And parents’ indifference to their child’s experiences can lead not only to running away from home, but even to suicide.

By the way, about runaways, they are not always caused by domestic violence or a child’s tendency to wander, as is commonly believed. I worked a lot with running children, in most cases these are children who overly emotionally perceive any troubles – quarrels with classmates, parents, failures in school. Not knowing how to solve the problem that torments them, such children find the simplest way – to move physically away from the place where they feel bad.”
