An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred off the coast of the Kuril Islands
The head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismological station, Elena Semyonova, said that today an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 was recorded off the coast of the Kuril Islands.
According to her, the epicenter of the tremors was in the Pacific Ocean east of Simushir Island.
“This morning there was an earthquake off the coast of the Kuril Islands. The epicenter was located 53 kilometers east of Simushir Island in the Pacific Ocean. The source of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers,” Semyonova noted.
She clarified that no perceptibility data has been received at this time.
