An athlete from Serpukhov took part in the Children’s World Chess Championship

The Children’s World Chess Championship was held in Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt) on October 15-26. A young athlete from the Serpukhov urban district took part in it.
Sofia Gaer, a student at the Russian Bear sports school, showed a good result. The girl won 5.5 out of 7 games, then lost two games, in one of them she played against the rating favorite of the tournament, in the other against the European Champion among girls. Sofia won the last two rounds.
According to the results of the games, the Serpukhovka team earned 7.5 points out of 11 possible. Taking into account additional indicators, she took 9th place, which brought an increase in the ranking (108 points).
