Currently, the Pentagon is studying the possibility of more active use of kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles and loitering ammunition. This was announced in an interview with the Japanese newspaper Nikkei by the commandant of the US Marine Corps, General David Berger.
According to a senior US military officer, such weapons could appear on all US Navy ships that are based in the Indo-Pacific region. Berger emphasizes that kamikaze drones will help block access by sea to strategically important objects.
The commander of the US Marine Corps also noted that Washington plans to work closely with the Japanese authorities towards exploring the possibilities of using drones. Berger criticized China’s policy for the balloon incident in American airspace.
