The profile committee of the State Duma on security today, July 19, supported the amendments to bill on short-term contracts for service in the National Guard, according to which personnel will be prohibited from posting photos and videos about themselves, family and colleagues on the Internet.
According to the amendments, employees of the National Guard will generally be prohibited from publishing information that would allow their location to be established. The amendments also prohibit the dissemination of information by which it is possible to determine the departmental affiliation of an employee to the National Guard.
The bill was submitted to the State Duma on April 18 by a deputy from the United Russia party, Alexander Khinshtein, a former adviser to the head of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov. As stated in the explanatory note, the initiative “is due to the active participation of the police units of the Russian Guard in the SVO.” The third reading of this law is scheduled for July 20.
