Russian Ambassador to Bern Sergei Garmonin, commenting on the possibility of Switzerland transferring frozen assets to Ukraine, said that such actions would lead to negative consequences for Bern.
Let us recall that on March 5, the Council of Swiss Cantons made an appeal to the government of the country with a request to allow the transfer of Russian assets frozen in Switzerland to Ukraine.
“We are studying the decision of the Council of Cantons. We believe that any confiscation of sovereign assets of Russia, like any other state, is unlawful. Such actions will damage the legal integrity of the global financial system, as well as the reputation of the Swiss authorities,” Garmonin said.
Russia may begin exchanging blocked assets with the West in the coming weeks
